Israel orders mass evacuation of Tyre as bombing intensifies

On Tuesday, Israel's army spokesperson Avichay Adraee called on residents of Tyre and surrounding areas in southern Lebanon to evacuate immediately north of the Zahrani River, warning that further airstrikes would target sites it says are linked to Hezbollah. The order, broadcast on X, also urged people in the city's Christian quarter and nearby refugee camps to leave.

The latest Israeli air attacks on Tyre killed at least eight civilians and injured 32, according to Lebanon's health ministry, with other strikes in nearby towns such as Marwanieh and Zifta causing additional deaths. The fighting, part of the ongoing Israel‑Hezbollah confrontation that has displaced more than a million people, has prompted humanitarian warnings and Iranian threats of retaliation if Israel continues its campaign.
