Israel orders mass evacuation of Tyre in southern Lebanon

Israel’s Defence Forces issued an immediate evacuation order for the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon, extending the directive to the predominantly Christian neighbourhood and requiring residents to move north of the Zahrani River. The order has triggered a rapid displacement of thousands of civilians, causing congested roads, the shutdown of at least five collective shelters and a growing humanitarian strain.

Hezbollah linked the escalation to a recent Iranian missile launch aimed at Israel, warning of broader regional repercussions. Observers note that the inclusion of Christian areas marks a new tactical and sectarian dimension in the conflict, raising concerns about the stability of Lebanon’s fragile social fabric and the durability of the ceasefire that began in April.
