Israel prepares for military escalation in West Bank
The Israeli military is reportedly preparing for a large-scale escalation in the occupied West Bank. According to security sources cited by the Walla news site, the military is conducting preparations for what it describes as a “radical intervention against terror.”
These operations may include the occupation of additional Palestinian refugee camps, particularly in the northern West Bank, and the implementation of extensive military actions. To strengthen control over the region, the Israeli military is also constructing new military outposts.
Security units have expressed concern regarding rising tensions and friction on the ground, partly driven by a significant increase in illegal settlements. Current data indicates the presence of 180 existing settlements, 84 new settlements, 140 illegal settlement farms, and over 100 settlement points.
Reports suggest that Defense Minister Yisrael Katz may pressure the military to focus on northern West Bank refugee camps. The timing of these potential escalations is linked to upcoming Israeli elections in late October, planned Palestinian elections in November, and heightened tensions during Jewish holidays.
