Israel Pursues Space-Based Laser Weapons Program

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that the government is allocating significant resources to develop high‑power laser systems for use in space. The goal is to place Israel among the three leading nations in space‑based military capability, enhancing deterrence and the ability to neutralise external threats. The ministry is recruiting top experts and preparing operational plans, including a standalone response strategy if Iran were to launch missile attacks. Katz also reiterated Israel’s commitment to maintain military presence in Lebanon, Syria and the Gaza Strip while supporting Lebanon’s own security forces against Hezbollah activities.
