U.S. Refueling Aircraft Arrive in Israel as Trump Mulls Wider Iran Attack

The United States is deploying dozens of additional aerial refueling aircraft to Israel amid escalating tension with Iran. Around 30 U.S. tankers were already stationed at Ben Gurion International Airport and Ramon Airport, and a further 14 aircraft landed over a weekend, bringing the fleet toward the roughly 100 aircraft cited in U.S. plans. A Situation‑Room briefing on 14 July presented President Donald Trump with options that include strikes on Iranian power plants, nuclear facilities and other infrastructure, and officials said the U.S. could order a broader escalation within days to pressure Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Israeli officials warned that the additional tankers could be forced to use civilian airports such as Ben Gurion, risking flight cancellations during the peak summer travel period. At the same time, Iranian leaders have told regional proxies, including Hezbollah, to prepare for a larger war, and Tehran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has stepped up missile and drone attacks on U.S. assets in the Gulf. The combined military buildup and diplomatic warnings raise the risk of a wider Middle‑East conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
