Israel Removes All War Restrictions on Northern Border with Lebanon
Israel’s Home Front Command announced that, effective 06:00 GMT on 22 June 2026, all war‑related civilian restrictions in the northern border zone adjacent to Lebanon are lifted. The decision follows a security assessment that judged the immediate threat level to have fallen, allowing settlements in the “line of confrontation” area to resume unrestricted activity.
The move is portrayed as a tentative step toward de‑escalation in the Israel‑Hezbollah confrontation, although officials stress that the ceasefire remains fragile and the military stays prepared for renewed hostilities. Market analysts noted a drop in the perceived likelihood of Israeli airspace closures in the weeks ahead.
IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir warned that the ceasefire with Hezbollah is “very fragile” and urged readiness for possible combat operations despite the easing of civilian restrictions.
