Israel reports rocket strikes and spy‑related tensions on Lebanon border

The Israel Defense Forces said two projectiles landed near its positions in southern Lebanon, triggering air‑raid sirens in northern Israeli towns such as Shlomi. No injuries or damage were reported, and the IDF said it is monitoring the area as cross‑border fire continues.

Separately, Lebanese authorities disclosed that Khaled al‑Aydi – a Palestinian‑born, Ukrainian‑citizen refugee – escaped from a Hezbollah detention cell in the Beirut suburbs. He is alleged to have been part of an Israeli intelligence operation. The Ukrainian embassy was asked to intervene but denied involvement, and his whereabouts remain unknown. Analysts say the episode underscores the broader espionage contest between Israel and Hezbollah and could heighten political pressure within Lebanon.
