Israel has announced the revocation of diplomatic status for Dutch representatives at the Netherlands’ Representative Office in Ramallah. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that the move is a response to the Dutch government’s ban on imports, trade, and sale of products originating from Israeli settlements in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights.

Dutch diplomats have been ordered to return their Israeli-issued diplomatic documentation within seven days, after which their diplomatic privileges and immunities granted by Israel will expire. Saar suggested that if the Netherlands wishes to continue representing interests with the Palestinians, it should do so from Palestinian Authority territory rather than from territory controlled by Israel.

The Dutch trade ban, which came into force on September 22, applies to commercial imports, individual travelers' luggage, and prohibits Dutch companies from mediating trade with settlements. The measure includes products brought in as souvenirs or gifts. Violators of the Dutch ban may face fines of up to 103,000 euros or prison sentences of up to six years.
