Israel says it will act alone against Iran, maintains Lebanon presence

Israel’s defence minister, Yoav Katz, told a graduation ceremony for the air force that the Israeli army is ready to carry out air strikes against Iran on its own if necessary. He reiterated that Israel will continue its occupation of southern Lebanon, stating, “We did not ask anyone’s permission to enter Lebanon, and we do not need permission to stay there.”

Chief of staff Eyal Zamir added that the army is closely monitoring developments in Iran and Lebanon and has completed preparations for an immediate attack on Iran, with new operational plans under development. The statements came after the United States launched air strikes near the Strait of Hormuz following President Donald Trump’s threat to Iran, raising concerns about possible retaliation from Tehran or Hezbollah.

Israel’s officials said they remain prepared for further large‑scale operations in the region.
