Israel security failures repeating patterns of October 7, report warns

A new report titled ‘Strategic Warning: Failure 2026,’ published by the October Council, warns that Israel is repeating the security patterns and failures that preceded the October 7 massacre.

The report identifies seven specific warning signs, including the rebuilding of Hamas's strength, attempts to probe new defensive lines, and increasing strain on military manpower. It also notes that warnings from female surveillance and combat soldiers have been raised.

A central finding is the existence of a ‘barrier of fear’ within the security establishment. The report states that soldiers, commanders, and senior officials are often reluctant to openly voice concerns about emerging threats due to fears of career retaliation, political consequences, or potential harm to family members serving in the military. This reluctance to speak up in formal settings is described as a security failure in itself.
