Israel: Settlement calls in Gaza and West Bank movement restrictions
During the Sukkot festival, significant developments occurred regarding Israeli presence and movement restrictions in Palestinian territories. In Israel, the far-right organization Nahala organized a massive convoy of vehicles toward the northern border of the Gaza Strip. Under the slogan ‘Choose victory – colonize Gaza!’, demonstrators and organizers called on the Israeli government to permit the establishment of Jewish settlements in northern Gaza, opposing the deployment of international peacekeeping forces.
Simultaneously, in the occupied West Bank, intensified Israeli military restrictions and road closures have disrupted the daily lives of thousands of Palestinians. Checkpoints at locations such as Atara, Ein Sinya, and Jaba have caused long delays, with some travelers waiting several hours to pass. These closures have impacted essential services, including medical emergencies, as ambulances and patients face significant delays in reaching healthcare facilities.
While Israeli authorities cite security reasons for the movement restrictions, local residents report severe consequences for the regional economy and access to vital services.
