Israel soldiers wounded in drone strike in southern Lebanon

The Israeli Defense Forces said an unmanned aerial vehicle attack in southern Lebanon injured five of its soldiers, several seriously. The incident occurred despite a cease‑fire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on 17 April 2026.

In a separate statement, the Israeli army reported that an explosion near the Litani River killed one reservist and wounded seven others, including senior officers, during a patrol by the 36th Brigade’s advanced command team. Lebanese health officials have recorded more than 3,800 deaths and over 11,800 injuries in Israeli attacks on Lebanon since early March.

The two incidents highlight the continuation of hostilities between Israel and Lebanon despite ongoing cease‑fire negotiations mediated by the United States.
