Israel strikes in southern Lebanon kill six and wound hospital staff near Sur

Israeli forces continued air and ground operations in southern Lebanon on Thursday. In the town of Sur, an attack hit an area about 15 metres from a hospital, injuring ten members of medical and administrative staff and damaging vehicles and windows. The same day, Israeli airstrikes killed at least six civilians – four in the southern village of Abassija and two in the coastal city of Tyre and the eastern town of Baalbek.

Israeli ground troops reported taking operational control of the Wadi Saluki valley, a corridor between the Litani River and the Israel‑Lebanon border, and are advancing further south. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, said it responded with drone and rocket attacks on Israeli positions, including an artillery post and a drone. The United Nations called for a comprehensive cease‑fire as the fighting escalates.

The clashes add to a broader conflict that has already caused thousands of deaths since it began, and force residents of affected Lebanese towns to flee northward amid traffic jams and ongoing security concerns.
