Israeli Airstrike Kills Six‑Member Al‑Masri Family in Gaza

On Tuesday an Israeli airstrike hit an apartment in Gaza City’s Sabra neighbourhood, igniting the building and killing six members of the Al‑Masri family. The victims were identified as Firas Al‑Masri, his wife Salsabeel, and their four children – three daughters and a son. Israeli defence officials said the strike was aimed at a Hamas operative, later naming the target as Ismail Masri, a senior commander of Hamas’s Rafah Brigade, and said they were reviewing the outcome.

The attack occurred despite an October cease‑fire between Israel and Hamas, which has failed to halt daily Israeli operations. Palestinian health officials report that more than 1,150 Palestinians, largely civilians, have been killed since the cease‑fire began, while the overall war has caused over 73,000 Palestinian deaths. Israeli military statements also note that separate strikes since Friday eliminated three militants linked to Hamas and Islamic Jihad, two of whom participated in the Oct. 7 attack that triggered the conflict.

The incident underscores the persistent civilian toll in Gaza and the ongoing gap between military objectives and civilian casualties.
