Israel strikes Tyre, Lebanon killing five and wounding eight amid Hezbollah conflict

An Israeli airstrike hit the southern Lebanese city of Tyre near a Red Cross centre, killing five people and wounding eight, including four Red Cross paramedics. The strike damaged parts of the UNESCO‑listed archaeological site, hitting historic buildings, generators and offices of the Directorate General of Antiquities.

Israel’s defence minister said the IDF will continue operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon despite a warning from Iran that any further Israeli action would prompt “severe” measures. Iran announced it would halt its own operations against Israel only if “aggression and hostility” in southern Lebanon stopped. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, speaking on CNN, appealed for talks rather than war, urging a non‑aggression pact. In a separate dawn strike on the town of Zifta in Nabatieh district, seven people were killed, including a Syrian child and a woman. Israel’s education ministry announced schools would reopen nationwide the following day, with additional safety measures for schools near the border.
