Israel threatens expanded Gaza operations as Netanyahu says forces near 70% control

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a cabinet meeting that Israeli forces already control more than 60% of the Gaza Strip and aim to reach about 70% operational control. He cited recent strikes that eliminated senior Hamas commanders and highlighted parallel actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon, where Israeli troops killed hundreds of militants in the past week. The statements are intended to increase pressure on Hamas and other Palestinian groups ahead of the talks.

The messaging comes as Hamas and other factions have demanded a halt to Israeli killings and full implementation of a cease‑fire agreement, while Israeli officials maintain that the military actions are aimed at preventing terrorist re‑armament and protecting Israeli civilians.
