Israel upgrades Iron Dome missile defense system

Israel’s Ministry of Defense and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems have completed a comprehensive test series of the Iron Dome short‑range air‑defence system. The trials, carried out by the Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D), evaluated a suite of upgrades intended to improve performance against rockets, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, incorporating lessons learned from recent combat operations.

The tests also integrated the Iron Beam high‑power laser system in joint operational scenarios from the Iron Dome battle‑management centre, demonstrating coordinated interception of drones and rockets. Officials said the new capabilities represent a significant step in expanding the system’s ability to counter a wider range of threats and bolster readiness for the next decade of security challenges.
