Israeli strikes in Gaza kill four amid ceasefire violations

Israeli military strikes in Gaza have resulted in multiple fatalities despite a US-mediated ceasefire that has been in effect since October 2025. On Wednesday, Palestinian officials reported that four people were killed: two young men in a vehicle strike near Khan Yunis and two others, including a woman, in an airstrike on an apartment building in Gaza City.

In the Gaza City strike, 33-year-old Reem Asaad Awad was killed when her apartment in the Al-Rimal neighborhood was hit, sparking a fire. Her young daughter was rescued from the flames but sustained burns. The Israeli military stated it is investigating the incident and claimed the strike targeted a Hamas member.

Separately, the Israeli military reported killing over 100 individuals in northern Gaza over the last four months and destroying approximately eight kilometers of militant tunnels. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue operations against Hamas despite the ongoing truce.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the total death toll from the conflict has exceeded 74,300. UN Women has also reported significant gendered impacts, estimating that nearly 50,000 women and girls in Gaza have been killed or severely injured since the war began in October 2023.
