Israeli airstrike in Gaza City kills two Palestinians
An Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City killed at least two Palestinians and wounded 13 others on Sunday. Medical officials reported that the explosion dismembered the bodies of the deceased, prompting calls for public assistance in identification.
The Israeli military stated the strike targeted two Hamas militants. The incident occurred amidst a period of near-daily strikes following a U.S.-backed ceasefire agreement. While the truce halted large-scale fighting, tensions remain high; Hamas has accused Israel of violating the agreement and undermining peace plans, while Israel maintains that Hamas has also violated the deal.
According to local health authorities, more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire took effect. The Israeli military has reported the deaths of four soldiers during this period.
