Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon have killed at least 11 people and injured 19 others, marking one of the deadliest days since a ceasefire agreement was reached in June. The strikes targeted the towns of Ansar and Deir al-Zahrani in the Nabatieh district.

In Ansar, seven people were killed, including three children and two women, when a residential building was destroyed. The Israeli military stated the strike targeted Ali Samir al-Haj Hassan, a Hezbollah battalion commander in the Radwan Force, and claimed he used his family as human shields. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office acknowledged civilian casualties, stating the presence of civilians was discovered after the strike.

A separate strike in Deir al-Zahrani killed four people and injured 17 others. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the attacks, stating the victims were not military infrastructure and calling for an end to the escalation. Hezbollah has vowed a proper response to the attacks.

The escalation occurs amid ongoing negotiations for a framework deal involving the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces and the deployment of the Lebanese army. Lebanese authorities report that since March 2, Israeli attacks have killed over 4,300 people and displaced more than 1 million people.
