Israel airstrikes kill at least 15 in Gaza, Hamas calls for ceasefire
Israeli warplanes bombed Gaza for a second consecutive day, striking the northern city, Deir al‑Balah in the centre and Khan Younis in the south. The attacks killed at least 15 Palestinians, including four children, marking the highest daily death toll in weeks. Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said Hamas and other armed groups had agreed to disarm, raising hopes for a breakthrough. Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said no cease‑fire agreement exists, noted Israel already controls about 70% of the enclave, and warned that Israel will assume full control of Gaza if Hamas does not disarm. Cohen added that the U.S.–Israel agreement requires Hamas to be dissolved. Hamas senior official Basem Naim said the movement had shown “significant flexibility” but accused Israel of trying to impose a de‑facto situation on the ground and of escalating attacks. The Trump‑led “Peace Council” released a 15‑point roadmap for implementing a cease‑fire agreement.
