Israeli airstrikes kill at least 16 people in Gaza
Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip killed at least seven people in a drone attack on the city of Gaza and nine more in two separate incidents – a police station near a displaced‑persons camp in Khan Younis and a vehicle in Gaza City – according to medical and rescue sources. The attacks wounded dozens more, overwhelming hospitals such as al‑Sifa and Nasser with bodies and injured patients.
The incidents occurred despite a cease‑fire agreement reached in October 2025, and they have raised concerns from humanitarian groups about the growing toll on displaced families. Egypt is hosting new talks with Hamas and other Palestinian factions aimed at preserving the fragile truce, while Hamas has called for an end to the Israeli attacks as a precondition for any progress in negotiations.
