Israeli airstrikes kill civilians, raze hundreds of Gaza tents
On June 29‑30 2026 Israeli forces carried out multiple strikes in the Gaza Strip. A drone attack on Deir al‑Balah killed three Palestinians, including an eight‑year‑old boy, while an F‑16 missile hit the al‑Mawasi refugee camp near Khan Yunis, killing a one‑year‑old baby, her 23‑year‑old mother and destroying roughly 100‑200 tents that housed thousands of displaced families. The strike left dozens more wounded and rendered the camp’s makeshift shelters a pile of charred fabric and metal frames.
Separate attacks that day also killed four men in Gaza and a 15‑year‑old teenager in the occupied West Bank. Gaza’s health ministry reported at least eight civilian deaths and more than 20 injuries from these incidents, noting that the cease‑fire agreed in October 2025 continues to be violated by daily Israeli operations.
The destruction of the tents has left thousands of Palestinians without shelter and has been documented by Gaza Civil Defence officials, who described the scale of the loss and the difficulty of reaching the site amid ongoing hostilities.
