Gaza civilian deaths rise to 11 in Israeli strikes despite ceasefire
Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip on 18‑19 July 2026 killed 11 Palestinians despite the cease‑fire that began in October 2025. An apartment in the north‑west of Gaza City was hit, killing a married couple and their three children; the sole survivor was a child who was not in the building. Separate strikes in the Zeitoun neighbourhood killed three civilians, and artillery fire on a tent for displaced persons killed a woman. Health authorities and the Gaza Defence Civil reported two additional fatalities from other attacks that day, bringing the total to 11. Israeli officials said the attacks aimed at a Hamas terrorist and that an assessment of the operation’s results was underway. Since the cease‑fire began, the Gaza Health Ministry says at least 1,144 Palestinians have been killed, while Israel reports five soldiers and one defence‑contractor dead in the enclave.
