Israeli Female Soldiers' Suicides Raise Total to 16 This Year

Two Israeli female soldiers died by suicide this week. One was a member of the Bardelas battalion stationed at the Egypt‑Israel border, and the other served in a secret intelligence role at the Glilot base near Ramat Hasharon. The Israeli military has opened investigations through its Military Police into both deaths.

Haaretz data show that the number of Israeli soldiers who have taken their own lives since the start of the year has risen to 16. At least nine of those suicides involved soldiers who were not on active duty during the Gaza war. The same source notes that in 2025 a record 22 soldiers died by suicide, the highest annual total in the past 15 years. Analysts link the surge to psychological trauma stemming from Israel's war in Gaza that began on 8 October 2023.
