Israeli army wounds Anadolu photojournalist in West Bank

Anadolu Agency photojournalist Issam Rimawi was wounded by a rubber bullet fired by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank on Saturday. The incident occurred in the village of Deir Nizam, near Ramallah.

According to reports, Palestinian farmers had requested assistance from activists to harvest olives after Israeli settlers reportedly prevented them from accessing their land. During the harvest, clashes broke out between settlers and Palestinians. When Israeli soldiers arrived, they deployed tear gas and rubber bullets against the group. Rimawi, who was wearing a press vest and helmet, was struck in the right calf by a rubber bullet while covering the event.

Rimawi was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. The incident follows a reported increase in confrontations involving settlers and military forces in the West Bank since October 2023.
