Lebanese soldiers wounded in Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon

An Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle dropped a bomb on a vehicle escorted by the Lebanese army in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon. The strike lightly injured five Lebanese soldiers and two civilians. The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that the drone attack was followed by additional Israeli fire, including tank shells and sound‑bombs targeting nearby villages such as Merceyun, Taybe and Mansuri.

The incident occurred despite a cease‑fire framework signed on 26 June under U.S. mediation, which was intended to end border hostilities. The Lebanese army opened an investigation and said the explosion was caused by a suspicious object. Israeli forces have continued operations in the south since early March, a campaign that the Lebanese health ministry says has caused more than 4,300 deaths.

Both sides exchanged statements: Lebanon blamed the Israeli attack, while Israel denied responsibility for the device that exploded.
