Israeli authorities renew administrative detention for journalist Bushra al-Tawil

Israeli prison authorities have renewed the administrative detention of 33-year-old journalist Bushra al-Tawil for an additional four months. According to the Palestinian Prisoners Club, al-Tawil has been held in isolation for approximately 50 days at the Ofer prison in Beersheba, following multiple transfers between different facilities and isolation units.

The Prisoners Club reported that al-Tawil has been subjected to physical abuse and mistreatment during her isolation. Legal teams are reportedly working to secure her release and end her isolation, though they face difficulties due to frequent transfers that hinder legal visits.

Data from the Prisoners Club indicates there are currently 87 Palestinian women held in Israeli prisons, 21 of whom are under administrative detention. This figure includes Samar Hamad from al-Bireh, who was also issued a four-month administrative detention order. The organization highlighted broader concerns regarding the treatment of female detainees, including allegations of repression, denial of medical care, and the spread of scabies among prisoners. The club has called on international human rights organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, to intervene and ensure the protection of these detainees.
