Israeli bombardment of southern Lebanon kills seven and hits historic Tyre

On June 8, 2026 an Israeli airstrike on the town of Zefta in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon killed at least seven people, including a Syrian child and a woman, and wounded eight. The strike struck near a school used as a shelter for displaced families; the UN Refugee Agency reported significant damage and forced residents to flee.

Israel continued its attacks despite a cease‑fire in place since late April, also hitting Majdal Zoun, Mansouri, Kharayeb and the historic city of Tyre (Tiro). On June 9 a bombing in Tyre killed at least eight civilians, among them three paramedics, and prompted an evacuation order for the city. The intensified strikes have raised humanitarian concerns as the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalates.

The Lebanese Emergency Operations Centre described the Zefta attack: “El ataque del enemigo israelí durante la madrugada de hoy… causó siete muertos, incluidos un niño sirio y una mujer; así como ocho heridos.” The incidents occur amid heightened regional tension and warnings from Iran about further retaliation.
