Israeli courts extend detention of Palestinian journalist
Israeli military courts have extended the detention of Palestinian journalist Niqaa Bajis Hamed from the village of Beitin. Hamed was reportedly arrested at a military checkpoint near Tuqu near Bethlehem while returning from field reporting. Her detention has been extended until September 28.
In addition to the journalist's detention, several Palestinian detainees from various West Bank governorates have had their trials postponed. These include Nour al-Din Bassem Haj Mohammed from Tlfat, Ward Basil al-Barghouti from Kafr Ein, and Hussein Hassan al-Barghouti, an injured detainee from Beit Rima, whose trial has been delayed for the seventh consecutive time.
Furthermore, the Ofer military court issued postponement orders for three detainees from the Al-Arroub camp near Hebron, with new trial dates set for late September. Human rights organizations have noted that these repeated judicial delays and extensions contribute to harsh conditions and prolonged detention for Palestinian prisoners.
