Israeli Detention of Lebanese and Palestinian Prisoners Prompts Advocacy Campaigns

The Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, together with the International Campaign to Free Lebanese Prisoners, launched a media campaign on Beirut's Old Airport Road to highlight at least 29 Lebanese detainees held in Israeli prisons, including the underground “Rakevet” wing of Ayalon prison. The initiative calls for the prisoners’ release, an end to hostilities in Lebanon, and broader international support.

Separately, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine issued a statement on Palestinian Prisoners’ Day (April 17, 2026) denouncing Israel’s recently approved “execution of prisoners law.” The group described systematic torture, medical neglect, starvation and other abuses in Israeli detention facilities, labeling them as “extermination camps.” It demanded that the prisoners be recognized as prisoners of war and called for an international campaign to overturn the law.

Both statements condemn the treatment of Lebanese and Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody and seek increased global attention and legal action to secure their release.
