Gaza civilian death toll rises as Israeli attacks breach ceasefire

Israeli drone strikes and gunfire in the Gaza Strip have killed at least five people in recent days, including a nine‑year‑old girl, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The attacks come despite a U.S.–brokered ceasefire that has been in place since October 2025. Since the truce began, health officials say more than 1,098 Palestinians have been killed and 3,535 wounded.

Separate incidents have added to the toll: six Palestinians were reported killed and 28 injured over a 48‑hour period, and a new Israeli drone strike wounded staff at Kamal Adwan Hospital. Other reports mention a metal‑working shop hit in the Sabra neighbourhood and the targeting of alleged Hamas operatives in northern Gaza. The Israeli military said it was striking "terrorist infrastructure" and Hamas members preparing attacks.

The continued violations have been condemned as breaching the ceasefire, with the Gaza health authority recording a cumulative total of over 1,094 deaths since the war began in October 2023 and more than 1,700 injured. The violence persists alongside diplomatic talks in Cairo on the implementation of a U.S. peace plan.
