In the night of 4–5 August 2026 the Israeli army launched a large‑scale operation against the Qalandia refugee camp north of Jerusalem. More than 60 Palestinians were arrested, including youths, women and the journalist Mohammad Samrin, who was beaten while covering the raid. A Palestinian youth was run over by an Israeli military vehicle. Residents reported injuries from beatings, tear‑gas inhalation and a skull fracture, while ambulances were blocked from entering the camp. The operation is part of a broader escalation that also saw settler attacks, house demolitions and curfews across the West Bank.
