Israeli Forces Continue Destroying Villages in Southern Lebanon Amid Withdrawal Deal
Israeli occupation forces have persisted in demolishing civilian and government structures in several southern Lebanese towns, including Bent Jbeil, Kfar Tebnit, and Zawtar Gharbia, despite a US‑brokered framework agreement that calls for a phased Israeli pull‑out. The attacks have targeted schools, social‑service centers, water‑works, religious sites and private homes, and have involved the use of explosives and gunfire.
The Lebanese army warned that these assaults are obstructing its deployment in the area and preventing displaced residents from returning to their villages. It cited fresh shelling of villages such as Kfar Tebnit, Nabea Al‑Fawqa, and Zawtar Gharbia, as well as the destruction of a water‑project on the Litani River in Mkareb. The army says the ongoing violations undermine the terms of the agreement and threaten stability in southern Lebanon.
