Israeli Forces Invade UNRWA Kalandia Centre in East Jerusalem

On 27 July 2026 Israeli security forces and municipal officials forcibly entered the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Kalandia Training Centre in occupied East Jerusalem for the second time in less than a month. Teachers and students were in class when the troops gathered them and confined them on site; municipal staff photographed the building and its offices.

The Kalandia Centre, the oldest UNRWA vocational‑training facility, provides free professional education to hundreds of Palestinian refugees each year, helping them secure livelihoods. UNRWA warned that the intrusion breaches Israel’s obligations under international law regarding UN privileges and immunities and risks the illegal confiscation of the facility. The agency recalled the International Court of Justice ruling of October 2025 that reaffirmed Israel’s duty to facilitate UNRWA operations in the occupied territories. UNRWA has called on Israel to respect these obligations and cease further interference.
