UNRWA facility in Kafr Aqab raided and targeted for demolition by Israeli forces

Israeli forces conducted an incursion into the Qalandia refugee camp and the town of Kafr Aqab, north of Jerusalem, targeting UNRWA facilities. During the operation, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir participated in the raid on the Qalandia vocational training institute. Israeli authorities have begun procedures to evacuate and demolish the UNRWA-affiliated complex, which provides essential education and health services. Approximately 40 UNRWA employees and other individuals present at the institute were detained for questioning.

The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Refugee Affairs Department condemned the action, describing it as a systematic targeting of UNRWA facilities and a violation of international law and diplomatic immunities. Simultaneously, Israeli forces issued demolition notices for several Palestinian homes in the Kafr Aqab area.

In a separate but related development in the same neighborhood, the Jerusalem Municipality announced the commencement of a $13.4 million project to construct a new educational and community complex for local Arab residents. The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated this project aims to provide services in areas where UNRWA activities have been restricted.
