Israeli Knesset debates erupt with insults and calls to shoot protestors
During a Knesset committee meeting on a proposed law to enshrine Torah study, activist Ayelet Shahar Saidoff was shouted at by MKs who called her a “poison machine” and demanded she leave the chamber. MKs Yisrael Azoulay and Yossi Taïeb said, “You are a poison machine, be ashamed, get out,” and Rabbi Avichi Boaron ordered her removal, echoing a prior statement where Saidoff described a “poison machine” effort to divide ultra‑Orthodox groups.
In a separate heated exchange in the Education, Culture and Sport Committee, MK Yitzhak Fin Dross recalled a past comment that “anyone who blocks a road should be shot in the legs.” When pressed, he replied, “Let’s start with Naama Lazimi,” prompting accusations of incitement and calls from opposition MKs for a criminal investigation into his remarks.
Both incidents highlight escalating verbal confrontations within Israel’s parliament over contentious legislation and protest tactics.
