Israeli military courts reject appeals for 42 Palestinian administrative detainees

Israeli military courts have rejected appeals from 42 Palestinian prisoners held under administrative detention, according to the Prisoners' Information Service. This judicial decision ensures that these individuals remain in custody without trial.

In a separate development, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that Israeli authorities issued new or renewed administrative detention orders for 18 additional Palestinians from the West Bank and Jerusalem. These orders range from four to six months in duration.

Administrative detention allows for the holding of individuals without formal charges or legal proceedings, often based on secret evidence that neither the detainees nor their lawyers are permitted to review. Human rights data indicates that the total number of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody has exceeded 9,400, including approximately 3,244 held under administrative detention.
