Israeli Police Officer Suspended After Video Shows Kicking Haredi Protester
An Israeli police officer was removed from active duty after video evidence surfaced of him kicking a Haredi demonstrator during a protest against the draft of ultra‑Orthodox yeshiva students. The incident occurred on Route 4 near Bnei Brak and was part of a larger blockade organized by the Jerusalem Faction. Tel Aviv District Police Commander Chaim Sargarof ordered the suspension, and Police Commissioner Danny Levy announced a review of the officers’ conduct and promised disciplinary action if procedures were violated. The demonstration caused major traffic disruptions, arrests and reports of injuries.
Authorities are examining the footage and the broader handling of the protest.
