Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu criticized at home while coordinating with US amid Turkey tensions

In a separate development, Netanyahu spoke by phone with U.S. President Donald Trump. The two leaders agreed to “maintain coordination” on a range of issues and Trump briefed Netanyahu on recent U.S. actions in the Gulf. Netanyahu also condemned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s recent statements that question Israel’s existence, describing them as “grave.” The call followed Erdogan’s criticism of Israel over its recognition of the Armenian genocide and accusations of a “network of murders” involving Gaza.

Both the domestic criticism and the Israel‑U.S. coordination occur against a backdrop of heightened regional tensions, with Turkey’s remarks adding to the diplomatic strain.
