Israeli Raid on Tell Near Nablus Sparks Major West Bank Escalation

Israeli forces launched a large‑scale operation in the town of Tell (also reported as Tal), southwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. The raid involved house‑to‑house searches of around 70 homes and the detention of roughly 50‑70 Palestinians, according to Palestinian officials.

The operation followed an earlier confrontation in which a Palestinian gunman disarmed an Israeli soldier, killing two soldiers and wounding three others near the illegal Havat Gilad outpost. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a "wide‑scale military operation" in response, leading to the extensive raid in Tell and a broader intensification of Israeli incursions across the West Bank.

Human‑rights observers and the United Nations have condemned the round of raids as collective punishment, noting the expansion of Israeli military activity into nearby cities such as Jenin, Tulkarm, Ramallah, Bethlehem and Jericho.
