Israeli Reservations Delay Cairo Quadrilateral Gaza Ceasefire Meeting

Israeli objections have postponed the scheduled quadrilateral meeting in Cairo that was to include Egypt, Qatar, the United States and Turkey. The talks were meant to advance phase two of the Gaza cease‑fire agreement reached in October, contingent on Israel fully complying with all phase‑one provisions such as a complete halt to attacks and withdrawal from Gaza.

A Hamas delegation remains in Egypt awaiting a new date, while Palestinian sources say the parties are waiting for the United States to apply pressure on Israel. No replacement date has been set, and the delay is attributed mainly to Israeli reservations over the proposed withdrawal terms.

The impasse highlights the fragile state of the cease‑fire process, with all mediators urging Israel to meet the agreed conditions before any further implementation steps can proceed.
