Jalud village attacked by over 100 Israeli settlers in West Bank
More than 100 Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian village of Jalud in the northern West Bank, preventing a Palestinian family from returning to their home. The attack occurred while Israeli security forces were attempting to escort the al-Tubasi family back to their property following a High Court of Justice ruling that had ordered their return.
During the incident, settlers set fire to two Palestinian homes and several vehicles, blocked access roads, and threw stones at security personnel. Three Israeli Border Police officers sustained light injuries, and a security vehicle was damaged. Israeli police reported the arrest of one suspect and the detention of two minors for questioning.
Israeli political leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog, condemned the violence. Netanyahu stated that the rioters do not represent the broader settler population and called for prosecution under the full weight of the law. Herzog described the incident as a “moral stain” and an attack on the rule of law. Defense Minister Israel Katz also condemned the criminal acts, noting they hinder security operations.
