Israeli settlers reportedly set mosque in West Bank ablaze
Israeli settlers reportedly set fire to a mosque in the town of Michmas, located north of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank. Media footage from both Palestinian and Israeli sources shows damage to the entrance of the house of worship, and reports indicate that a vehicle was also completely destroyed by fire.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the incident is currently under investigation. The event occurs amid heightened tensions and increased violence involving radical settlers in the West Bank following the conflict that began in October 2023. While no immediate reports of injuries were confirmed, the incident adds to the ongoing friction in the region where approximately 700,000 Israeli settlers live among three million Palestinians.
