Israeli settlers set fire to West Bank mosques after deadly Tal clash
On the night of July 25‑26 2026 Israeli settlers torched two mosques in the occupied West Bank villages of Qusra and Kour. The Qusra mosque, still under construction and already furnished, was set ablaze and spray‑painted with Hebrew graffiti such as “Jewish revenge” and the name of an Israeli soldier killed nearby. The attacks came after a Friday confrontation near the Palestinian village of Tal, southwest of Nablus, where a crowd of armed settlers approached the village, leading to an exchange of fire that left four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers dead. Palestinian officials say the settlers provoked the violence; the Israeli army reports shots were fired by both sides.
Following the mosque arson, Israeli soldiers and police moved into Qusra and Kour, sealed roads, and launched investigations, condemning the attacks on religious sites and pledging decisive action to maintain public order. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a major security operation in the West Bank, reinforcing forces and canceling leave for soldiers.
