Israeli settlers try to burn West Bank mosque, set vehicles ablaze

Israeli settlers attacked a mosque in the West Bank, igniting the entrance while worshippers were inside. Residents extinguished the flame and no one was injured. In the villages of Burka and Deir Dibwan, settlers also set fire to cars, breaking a mosque door and burning vehicles.

The Israeli military dispatched troops to the area, stating it was working to break up disturbances, extinguish fires and maintain order. Military officials condemned the violence. The United Nations has warned that settler attacks in the West Bank have reached record levels, with thousands of Palestinians displaced this year.

The incidents add to ongoing tensions in the occupied West Bank, where more than 500,000 Israeli settlers live alongside three million Palestinians.
