Gaza civilian deaths rise as Israeli army sees surge in suicides

The Palestinian health ministry reported that in the latest 24‑hour period 18 civilians were killed and 35 injured in Gaza, bringing the total civilian death toll since the cease‑fire began on 10 Oct 2025 to 1,250. The figures underscore that Israeli airstrikes on hospitals and residential areas continue despite the truce.

Turkish officials condemned the attacks. Presidential Communication Chief Burhanettin Duran said the strikes deliberately sabotage peace efforts, and AK Party spokesperson Ömer Çelik called the Israeli government a “genocide network” targeting civilians. Both urged the international community to adopt a firmer stance.

In parallel, Israeli media reported that a reserve soldier committed suicide near Birüssebi, raising the year‑to‑date count of Israeli army suicides to 17, the highest in 15 years. Analysts link the rise in suicides to the psychological trauma of the Gaza war.
