Israeli special forces kidnap Hamas security official in Gaza City

An Israeli special forces unit, identified as part of the Shin Bet, conducted a kidnapping operation in western Gaza City on September 1, targeting Moeen Al-Arabi, a prominent security official within Hamas.

Investigations reveal that the operation was preceded by over a week of intensive military and intelligence movements near the Netzarim axis. These movements, which included frequent incursions by Israeli vehicles and gunfire, were initially perceived as efforts to locate targets for assassination or to consolidate military control. The special forces utilized these maneuvers to conduct reconnaissance and facilitate infiltration and extraction.

The operation involved significant aerial and fire cover, utilizing fighter jets, helicopters, and various drones to secure the unit during the mission and its subsequent withdrawal. The special forces reportedly entered and exited the Gaza Strip via the newly established road near the Netzarim axis, using military vehicle advances as cover to reach the target site in western Gaza City.
