Israeli strike on Gaza hospital kills journalists

One year after an Israeli military strike on Nasser Hospital in Gaza killed 22 Palestinians, including journalists and rescue workers, no individuals have been held accountable. The strike, which occurred on August 25, 2025, targeted what officials claimed was a Hamas camera on the hospital roof. Among the deceased were Reuters cameraman Hussam al-Masri and visual journalist Mariam Dagga.

New information has emerged via an anonymous Israeli soldier who stated that the military could find no evidence linking al-Masri’s camera to Hamas. The soldier also noted that none of the six individuals previously alleged to be linked to Hamas were the intended targets of the strike.

The Israeli military stated that the incident is being examined and findings will be transferred to the Military Advocate General’s Corps to determine if a criminal investigation is warranted, though no timeline for a verdict has been provided.
