Israeli Strikes Cause Dozens of Deaths in Southern Lebanon

Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon intensified this week, with a series of airstrikes and explosions that have killed more than 20 people. Reports from the Lebanese Armed Forces confirm that at least one officer and several soldiers were among the dead, while civilian casualties were reported in towns such as Al‑Saksakiyah, where six people died and four were injured.

The attacks have also damaged critical infrastructure and overwhelmed local hospitals with casualties. Residents have fled the affected areas, prompting urgent humanitarian needs for medical care, food and water. International observers, including UN agencies, have urged restraint and called for de‑escalation to prevent further civilian suffering. Analysts note that this flare‑up marks one of the most intense periods of cross‑border violence in recent months, raising concerns about a broader escalation between Israel and armed groups in Lebanon.
